The core of what became Mid Life Crisis began playing together in the mid-1970’s when they were sixteen years old and attending Stoughton High School. At the time, bands like Led Zeppelin, Bad Company, Aerosmith and Santana ruled. The band practiced constantly, perfecting their craft and soon were playing house parties, Bar Mitzvahs, CYO dances, high school dances… anything they could get. In addition to their instruments and amps, their stage equipment included home-made lighting kits and fog machines, not all of which ran according to plan all the time. The band quickly developed a loyal group of friends and fans and for the next five years had a great time playing all around Boston and the South Shore.
Eventually, that chapter came to an end and each of them settled into their regular, full time careers. They remained friends through it all and made sure they got together a few times each year to play.
Over those years, some of them played in other bands as well. Steve Arnold hooked up with several major area bands and played venues like the Hatch Shell and the Paradise in Boston. Carl Leitao was in a Boston wedding band for over three years doing gigs all over New England. Ken Black played in several bands and gigged extensively around the metro south area.
In 1998, during one of their jam sessions, somebody requested they play for a neighborhood block party. The band agreed and the rest is history, officially naming themselves “Mid Life Crisis.” THEY WERE BACK!
In 2007, Mid Life Crisis welcomed Mark Hewitt, a long-time veteran of several touring bands around the Seattle, Boston and Providence metro areas. Mark adds saxes, flute, keyboards and vocals to provide a whole new dimension to the band.
