Christians & Lions
Christians & Lions was and is a band that was formed in 2004 after the breakup of The Lido Venice, the first official collaboration between brothers Benjamin and Samuel Potrykus. After a 2-song single CD (We Fall and Get Up, We Fall and Get Up, We Fall and Get Up) and several local shows, they recorded an all-acoustic version of what was to be their debut LP, More Songs for Dreamsleepers and the Very Awake in an uninhabited caretakers' house dubbed The Estate with Djim Reynolds (Tigersaw, Casey Deinel of White Hinterland). A 3-week US tour in a station wagon followed, as did a more expanded lineup (adding Matt Sisto, Chris Mara, and part-time trumpeter Chris Barrett), and their full-band version of More Songs recorded by Jack Younger at Basement 247. Katherine Potrykus officially joined the band in 2007 and the group embarked on another US tour that summer in support of the Gimme Diction single, bringing in guitarist Greg Tellier.
After several months of rest, the final lineup began playing together again in late 2008. Christians & Lions has had the pleasure of playing shows with folks like the Entrance Band, David Vandervelde, Blitzen Trapper, Viking Moses, Castanets, and Ramona Cordova. They are currently finishing the writing of their new record.
